Concert boosts charity coffers

The Entertainment For All Charity Concert is held at Cleveleys Working Men’s Club on Slinger Road, Cleveleys, on the first Wednesday of every month.

John Davis organises the events following on from the late Alan Hebden, a Gazette community correspondent.

John said: “I organise the concert and book the artists and Barbara Hebden selects the charity to be featured and beneficiary of the money raised.

“The concerts have been running since 2011 and were started by Alan Hebden, husband of Barbara.”

Last month, the concert raised money for The Stroke Association and the previous month £139 was raised for Trinity Hospice.

Emma Walker, Life After Stroke Coordinator at the Stroke Association in Blackpool, said: “With around 152,000 strokes a year in the UK – that’s around one every three and a half minutes - it is vital that we have people who can raise funds for people affected by stroke.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Barbara Hebden for donating the funds raised through the raffle.

“Barbara and her late husband created the incredibly popular “Hebden Community Concert” to raise money for charity in a fun and exciting way whilst supporting local people.

“The Concert is a monthly event which provides accessible entertainment for all, every first Wednesday of the month between 2pm-4pm.

“The money will go a long way in helping to support people who are living with the effects of stroke.”

The next charity concert is on December 7 with Classic Sounds and Carl Schofield.
