Blackpool postbox left looking pink

Passers-by and shoppers in Highfield Road were left puzzled by the appearance of the post box near Marton Primary School.

Instead of its usual bright red the box was sporting a pale pink colour.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said today: “It is not for any special reason. We are carrying out a re-painting scheme.

“They scrape back the red paint and then use a pink primer .

“When that is dry it will be repainted in standard pillar box red.

“The only time pillar boxes are a different colour is gold for the Olympics when the gold medal winners got a repainted post box in their area.”
