The booklet encourages children and their families to spend more time outdoors by suggesting fun activities that are free and accessible to all.

It is being launched on Saturday at George Bancroft Park where activities are being held between 10am and 2pm.

The day includes bouncy castles, natural crafts, scavenger hunts, floral crown crafts, refreshments and the chance to bag one of the activity booklets to take home.

The 50 activity ideas are split into seasons giving children a year to complete them all.

Fun ideas range from racing snails and playing pooh sticks to collecting conkers and creating pictures using leaves.

Park ranger Alex Bergin said: “We wanted to create something that will make going outdoors exciting and fun for children and their families.

“These activities don’t cost anything, and are accessible to anyone who can get outside to some green space.

“The great outdoors is a brilliant way to let children learn about their environment, and these ideas will really engage with their imagination. Parents will enjoy the activities too.”
