The Gazette’s £10,000 giveaway with Swallowdale Children’s Trust  has been extended until the end of May due to the coronavirus pandemic and it’s hoped more people will have an opportunity to grab a slice of the fund.

The competition helps people under the age of 25 across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre and now in its eighth year, the prize pot this time around will see the total handed out to help support young people across the Fylde coast climb to more than £110,000.

Schools, community groups, sports clubs, charities and societies are eligible to apply for a share of the £10,000.

The closing date for the competition was originally April 10 however, due to the Covid-19 crisis, this has now been extended to the end of May meaning more chances for people to enter.

Nigel Law, chairman of the trust, inset, said: “The Trustees of the Swallowdale Children’s Trust are delighted the deadline has been extended which will hopefully mean more applications and chances for people to benefit from the money. We want to see some benefit to society from the money we donate.”
