Janet’s delight at BIBA honour

Janet Thornton, CEO of Inspired Energy PLC, was crowned business woman of the year at the coveted and lavish Be Inspired Business Awards (BIBA’s).

The ceremony took place at Blackpool’s iconic Tower Ballroom in front of an audience of over 1,000 business leaders from across Lancashire.

The BIBAs is Lancashire’s premier business awards, becoming a hallmark for success with its hundreds of former winners using the BIBAs iconic trophy to communicate their excellence to customers and suppliers alike.

Every year the BIBAs has attracted the cream of Lancashire’s business community to its sell-out ceremonies.

This year, Peter André performed and the night and was hosted by Kevin Roberts, Lancashire born Global CEO of Saatchi and Saatchi, and former Radio 1 DJ, Simon Bates.

Janet Thornton, CEO of Inspired Energy PLC commented “I am honoured to have received this prestigious award from the BIBA’s.

“It’s very rewarding to receive recognition such as this from my peers but I must accept this on behalf of the entire team at Inspired Energy, who are just fantastic.

They energise me every day with their commitment and make my job so pleasurable as CEO. Every credit to the organising team here at the BIBA’s as it has been such a wonderful evening; winning this has been the icing on a great year to date.

Inspired Energy PLC is the brain child of Janet Thornton of Lytham, who started the company on her kitchen table in 2000 and grew it into a PLC in 2011.

She is one of only a handful of female CEO’s running a PLC in the UK.
