Create Construction has won the contract to build Primus Edge, Leicester, a new-build student accommodation development in Leicester city centre, on behalf of Primus Property Group.

Announcement of the new contract comes as the Create Project Delivery team successfully handed over phase one of the scheme, Primus Place, prior to it welcoming students for the new academic year.

Its sister company Create Developments is behind the £8.5m Hamptons by Hilton hotel plan for South Shore Blackpool.

Designed by Manchester based Tim Groom Architects, phase two will consist of 159 studio apartments with contemporary fitted kitchens, en-suite bathrooms, free high-speed broadband, Wi-Fi and a flat screen smart TV.

The project is due for completion in September 2016.

Paul Mathison, Create Construction’s managing director, said: “This is our second major contract for Primus Property Group and comes on the back of the successful delivery of Primus Place, phase one.

“This large scale project builds on our significant portfolio of work in the student accommodation sector. Create and Primus have a similar ethos and our transparent and professional approach has allowed us to develop a strong working relationship with them and we look forward to working with them on future projects.”

Colin Turner, owner and director of Primus Property Group, said: “We are delighted to be working with Create on the second Phase of our Leicester Development, Primus Edge.

“Their professionalism and approach to collaborative working has been a refreshing approach from a contractor and we look forward to seeing the same positive attitude and quality outcome on Primus Edge, as we have just experienced on Primus Place.”

Tim Groom of Tim Groom Architects said: “We’re delighted at how Phase One at Leicester looks and are really looking forward to seeing the second phase complete.

“Primus Edge maintains the same rigorous design language of Primus Place but we have pushed the detailing of the façade and the interior design to an even more refined level. When complete, they will complement and enhance each other. While they would stand alone in their own right, they were always intended to be read as a pair.”
