Bars and restaurants in Poulton announce closure due to 'rise of positive Covid-19 cases in the area'

The Alley, on Breck Mews, told its customers the decision was "difficult, but sensible," and has cancelled all upcoming bookings.
It was due to "a recent rise of positive cases of Covid-19 in the area," the businesses said.

Hide AdIn a nearly-identical statement, Boca bar, Rumba bar, The Tipsy Cow and Cinco's Mexican restaurant, all on Breck Road, announced their venues would also be taking the same measures.
A spokesman said: "Due to the recent rise of positive cases of Covid-19 in the area, we have made the difficult, but sensible decision to close our venue for this week.
"Our main priority and concern making this decision is the safety of our customers and staff.
"We are working closely with other venues and following the correct government guidelines and policies to ensure that we can reopen in the safest possible way. We will reassess this decision next week and keep you all updated as any new information comes in.

The closures come after Health Secretary Matt Hancock warned of a second wave, telling the House of Commons: "This is not over."
A recent spike in cases across the country should be a reminder that the virus “remains a threat”, he said.
