A POULTON restaurant has been given a reprise after the owner successfully appealed a hygiene rating.

The Lemon Tree on Breck Road received a lowly one star out of five when they were originally assessed in May.

Owner Abu Choudhury (above) launched an appeal with Wyre Council and he has now been awarded a four star rating.

He said: “When I received the first certificate I went to Wyre Council and put my petition in and asked them to re-visit. Within a week they had looked at the restaurant and found everything was working. I was told they were happy with what I had done since their last visit and the kitchen was beautiful.”

Mr Choudhury blamed his original low score on the fact he had only moved into the restaurant two weeks before the inspection.

Coun Roger Berry, responsible for food safety at Wyre Council, added: “It is encouraging to see establishments improving their standards and the Lemon Tree is setting a good example to others.”
