ONE of the biggest names in contemporary English folk music appears at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre this Sunday.
Kate Rusby’s exquisite interpretations of traditional songs and finely wrought self-penned tunes have won her an audience that reaches beyond the genre.
A rare achievement for a folk artist but entirely understandable given Kate’s expressive vocals that invest whatever she sings with irresistible emotional depth.
In November, 2010, Kate released her much anticipated new album, Make The Light, her first record of completely self-composed songs.
This landmark release has been well received by both critics and fans alike.
It features Kate’s all-new band, who as ever, have been drawn from the cream of Britain’s folk instrumentalists.
Kate’s wondrous singing, her hugely engaging Yorkshire humour and her new ensemble’s marvellously intuitive support ensure that audiences will be treated to a truly remarkable and uplifting concert experience.
Kate is no stranger to the Fylde coast, having performed at Fleetwood’s Fylde Folk Festival in the past. The show begins at 7.30pm. Tickets for the Blackpool show cost £19. Call the Grand box office on (01253) 290190.
