THE sky’s the limit for the Broadway Stars morris dancing troupe.
They have high hopes for 2012 after they enjoyed success at the end of the morris dancing season.
The troupe, based in Fleetwood, won several awards in the ETACCO (English Town and Country Carnival Organisation) National Championships at Pontins Southport.
Principal Michelle Burke said: “We are delighted with what we’ve achieved. The girls have worked so hard, and it has paid off.”
With the new season set to start in March, the troupe are now busy preparing from their base at Fleetwood Gas Workers Club, on Preston Street.
> Dinky Troupe Of the Year (the best of the best over the year); > Tiny troupe of the Year; > Junior runners up troupe of the year; > Baby third place in Troupe of the Year; > Dinkys Champions;
> Tinies Champions.
They also came away with many individual awards, with Ellie Cardwell the Dinky Leader of the Year and Champion leader; Ellis Robinson won Dinky Champion Mascot; and Paris Young won Junior Mascot of the Year and Junior Champion Mascot.
And Paris also won the overall award by winning the overall Mascot of Mascots of the year by gaining the maximum points all year at every competition.
Michelle added: “It is amazing for a dancer from Fleetwood to win this national award. Paris did brilliantly. New girls are always welcome to come and have fun, keep fit and make new friends. We train every Monday evening upstairs in Gasworkers club and attend competitions all over the country.”
