The weather was kind to Fleetwood Carnival as the event enjoyed a bumper turn-out.
Floats, fancy dress characters, dancers and musicians were catch of the day for the annual event, which has been a summer tradition in the town for more than 100 years.
Carnival Committee secretary Ann Hanvey said: “It was fabulous, there were hundreds out for it.”
Organisers had called for residents to make a big effort with fancy dress costumes, and they didn’t disappoint.
There were bugs, charladies, clowns and much else besides.
It was a big day for Carnival Queen Parisa Cheema who was crowned queen for the day at the Marine Hall. With her retinue Abigail McLellan, Emily-Jane Birdsall, Bethany Pook and Kira Ainscough, she led the big parade on a beautifully decorated float.
The celebrations continued with live music from Lune Deep, Indian dancing from Fylde coast Hindu Society and the Fleetwood Old Boys Band putting on shows in the Marine Gardens, plus a fun fair keeping children entertained.
And Joanne Bennett, Carnival Committee treasurer, added: “It’s brilliant for the town and we raised over £1300 from the street collection and donations on the day!
“There were lots of people saying we need more of this, it brings the community together.”
