Fleetwood Town’s play-off semi final first leg against York City has been postponed.
A waterlogged pitch at Bootham Crescent forced referee Carl Boyeson to call off the match at 7.45pm, 15 minutes after the planned kick off time.
The game has been re-scheduled for 7.45pm on Monday.
Fleetwood’s former York City winger Matty Blair insists Graham Alexander’s team will be ready to go then.
He said: “We were ready on Saturday.
“We’ll be ready for Monday.
“It’s our job to prepare right and make sure we can handle situations like this.”
But he admitted the decision by the match officials on Saturday night had been the right one.
Blair said:“It’s such a shame because we turned up , went out on the pitch and you could see straight away there was a lot of surface water.
“It was just a case of when it was going to be called off, not if.
“That’s such a big shame.
“All of Fleetwood and all of York will have been preparing for a big tie.
And he’s hoping Fleetwood’s fans will, again, make the trip in numbers.
Blair said:“I’m sure the chairman will put out a few messages and encourage the fans to come back.
“He’s really good at getting them together and they’ve been great supporting us and I’m sure they’ll come back and enjoy the game they were deprived of on Saturday.”
