Winning bonuses for Fleetwood players

This season Town’s players will receive a cash boost for winning games on top of their normal wages.

It is a scheme Rosler installed at the Bees, who clinched promotion to the Championship in 2014.

And as he bids to build a winning mentality at Highbury, Rosler says not one of his players scoffed at the idea.

He said: “We try to encourage our players to always win games. The benefit of winning, of three points, is at times greater for us as a club than to have a draw.

“In some circumstances it is good to have a draw but in general we want to win games.

“That is why the players agree that we pay more money when we win games and we pay nothing when we draw.

“In general we want to win games. I think that is the clear emphasis from the club to the players and the players are buying into it.

“The players needed to agree on this and it shows the character of our group (that they did).

“We did the same thing at Brentford when I was there – and you know what that led to!

“They all bought into it. I suggested that here and the players all bought into it immediately.

“Not one player wanted the safety net. All of them bought into that idea. That shows the character of the team.”

Town’s star striker Conor McAleny was back in training after an ankle injury this week but Rosler refused to say whether he would be fit enough to travel to Bristol Rovers tomorrow.

Third-placed Town are seeking a fourth straight League One win following victories over Rotherham (2-0), Northampton (1-0) and AFC Wimbledon (2-0).

Rosler said: “We are delighted with our position but I think it is far too early to conclude anything from that. I think you need to play 10-15 games, then you can see.

“At the moment all coaches are waiting for the transfer window to close (next Thursday night). After that we will know a little bit more what is at our disposal.

“At the moment I am fine with what I have available. Conor McAleny is making surprisingly big steps forward. He was out on grass on Thursday, which is a big plus for us.

“The mood in the camp is good because we have three wins, three clean sheets and have scored five goals.”
