Wilder issues his message to the chasing pack
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder will have his feet up this weekend but took the time out to issue a message to his promotion rivals Bolton and Fleetwood: good luck.
Wilder) shared a couch with Town boss Uwe Rosler on Sky Sports’ show ‘Goals on Sunday’ as they assessed the weekend’s action.
The duo, and Bolton boss Phil Parkinson, are in a race for the two automatic promotion spots with seven games to go.
But with Coventry City taking on Oxford United in the Checkatrade Trophy final at Wembley, United can enjoy a few days’ rest after Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Millwall.
That win sent Wilder’s men 13 points clear of Fleetwood and seven ahead of Bolton.
If Rosler’s side lose their next two games – against Swindon this weekend and Oxford on Wednesday – then United can be promoted with victory over Coventry on Wednesday.
Wilder said: “Millwall was a big game and psychologically, it’s a big three points. People are looking up at us thinking they can chase us down. Good luck to them.”
And Rosler revealed Town mirrored Wilder’s 3-5-2 after he said United set the standard for the league with that shape.
Rosler said: “Every manager will tell you, when you are going somewhere you need a good start; from then we went from strength-to-strength.
“We found a way to play and mirrored Chris a little bit to be fair, with three at the back.
