Fleetwood Town have added to their strike force by bagging former Manchester City youngster Devante Cole for an undisclosed fee

The 20-year-old forward, son of Premier League legend Andy, joins on a two-and-a-half year deal from Bradford City.

Cole, who has represented England at under-16 to under-19 level, only signed for the Bantams in the summer having been released by the Etihad Stadium club.

But Bradford boss Phil Parkinson this afternoon confirmed his departure citing 'footballing reasons'.

For Fleetwood boss Steven Pressley the capture is a major coup and one he didn't believe would come off.

He told the club's website: "We’re really pleased to have signed Devante. It happened very quickly to be honest and we had a couple of things bubbling away yesterday.

“We didn’t ever foresee the Devante one developing but things moved quickly and we’re absolutely delighted to have him here.

“Devante has got terrific speed and is an exciting player. I hope he brings goals because we need a number nine we can rely on to score goals.

“We need someone who can get us double figures and that’s what we hope of Devante because we’ve invested our time in him.

“It’s about finding that balance amongst our strikers now. The games are coming thick and fast over the next couple of months.

“We didn’t want to be in that position where we only had one person with that speed we require, but I think we’ve done that over the past couple of days.”

Jamie Proctor will head the other way on a one-month loan deal but will not be allowed to face Fleetwood when they travel to Valley Parade next weekend.

Fleetwood yesterday confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea forward Alex Kiwomya on a one-month deal.

Everton forward David Henen is also back with the club and in contention to face Doncaster tomorrow.

One man not joining Fleetwood is Shaq Coulthirst.

The Spurs striker trained with Town a fortnight-ago but the club are understood not to have pursued their interest.

He has now joined Fleetwood's League One rivals Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee.
