Town defender Bolger expects Rovers return to be a tough test

Town’s giant centre-half is set for a return to Rovers, the club at which he enjoyed three loan spells from 2011-2013 while at Leicester City.

Bolger might have racked up 48 league appearances for Rovers but says he is aiming for another victory as Town bid to keep their perfect start to the season intact.

The 25-year-old said: “It will be a tough test, I think every game in this league will be a tough test.

“I have still got some good friends down there so it will be nice to see some familiar faces.

“It will be a tough test, we have done our preparation; it will be a hostile atmosphere.

“We are confident we can go down there do a job and come back with three points.”

Although the transfer window closes next week, there will be no mad panic.

No more players are anticipated to follow Kyle Dempsey, Conor McAleny, Harvey Rodgers and loanees Lewie Coyle, Aiden O’Neill, Jordy Hiwula and Baily Cargill through the doors at Highbury.

However, if Amari’i Bell, who has attracted attention from Championship clubs, or any other key player departs, Town may be forced into the market.

Town’s technical director, Gretar Steinsson, explained the reason for their approach.

He told a fans forum: “We are competitive, we work throughout the year so when we make decisions, we can make it quicker than the others and we don’t take holidays.

“When most people nip away for a couple of weeks we tend to swoop in and get the players.”
