Fleetwood Town are closing in on two more signings.
Boss Graham Alexander has revealed deals are almost done for what will be the League Two club’s fifth and sixth additions of the summer.
While the manager wouldn’t disclose names, The Gazette revealed last week one of them is Southend defender Ryan Cresswell.
The 25-year-old is believed to have told Shrimpers boss Phil Brown of his wish to move back to the north of England.
Alexander told The Gazette: “We have a couple in the pipeline who are just talking their time to get over the line.
“We obviously can’t talk about names until we can get them signed, but they are good players who I think will help to improve our squad.”
“It’s all coming together now. We had a flurry of activity a couple of weeks ago and got a few lads in, and hopefully that will happen again before we start back.”
Alexander released 12 players at the end of last season as he aims to build a new squad at Highbury.
So far he has managed to add Matty Blair, Jeff Hughes, Steven Schumacher and Liam Hogan to his squad.
The Town boss is pleased with his progress, adding: “It’s been exciting since the start of the summer to find players and then sign players who you think will be successful.
“Now that most are here, I’m excited about working with them on a day-to-day basis.
“I can’t wait for the first day of pre-season and getting down to some proper work. We had to fill up the squad after so many players left.”
