Rosler: Let's seize historic opportunity

The match is between the second and fourth-placed teams and Town’s unbeaten run of 18 games is the longest in the Football League all season.

Rosler is refusing to utter the word ‘promotion’ but admits it is a life-changing time for his players, who have a chance to make history.

With Town in an automatic promotion spot and four points clear of Phil Parkinson’s big-budget Trotters side, head coach Rosler said: “Nobody could see that Leicester City would win the Premier League and nobody could see that Fleetwood Town would be ahead of Bolton with 11 games to go.”

And Rosler said of the run-in: “It is a great opportunity for us. I said to the players these next two months could change their lives.

“Two months more of sacrifices, training and playing to your limit because it can change your life.

“As in life, you need to choose the opportunity when it comes around.

“I hope my players use that great opportunity for their own sake, for their own careers and their families.”

Rosler wants his players to relish their first-ever home game against Bolton, founder members of the Football League.

He added: “I want them to be excited. I want them to be curious how it feels to compete at the top. I want them to get that experience.

“I want them to relish the fact that we host Bolton for the first time in our young history at Highbury in a league match. I want them to experience a full-house and then we see how far we come.

“I say to the players there is no pressure on us. The only pressure we have is to perform to our ability.

“I want my players excited; obviously not so excited that they cannot sleep at night before the game but I want everyone to look forward to it.

“It gets harder and harder the longer this run goes on because at some point the run will end but we are working hard to be successful.

“We are not here to protect the run – we are here to try to win games because the benefit of a win is massive at this stage of the season.

“We have enough points that we are not going down, so we can really go for it.”
