Fylde coast youth football review: Blackpool and DistrictLeague and YMCA

In Under-13 Alpha Gold, BJFF Blades took advantage of their game being on to close the gap on leaders Foxhall to just four points as goals from Matthew Finney (2), Spencer Finney and Ethan Kinsey gave them the 4-1 win against Fleetwood Town, for whom Callum Van Bogerijen replied.

This sets the Blades up nicely for this weekend, when they will be flying the flag for the Fylde coast and the BDYFL against Ribbleton Greens in the Lancashire FA Cup final at the LFA County Ground in Leyland, kick-off at 10.15am.

In the Under-16 Hogan Cup, there was a quarter-final derby between Layton and FC Rangers at Moor Park.

Despite Rangers’ nine men putting up a brave fight, they crashed out 2-1 to goals from Jack Smith and Sam Secker, Callum Moore replying.

There was a shock at the same stage of the Under-18 Hogan Cup as Staining knocked out second-placed Fleetwood Town 4-2,

James Healey scored a brace, with Matt Crooks and George Powlesland also on target for the winners

YMCA Under-12s overcame the wet and blustery weather and a heavy pitch at Boundary Park to win their Poulton and District Primary League match away to FC Rangers 8-0.

The visitors adapted well to the difficult conditions and proved too strong for Rangers, controlling the game from and playing some impressive football. They scored four goals in each half as Noah Mawene and Elliott Collings both claimed hat-tricks and Ross Hurst netted the other two.

YMCA UNDER-13 GIRLS 7 BURNLEY GIRLS & LADIES 1

Conditions were atrocious for this North Valley and Burnley Unity League Cup quarter-final tie at Seafield Road, with heavy falling throughout the game and a stiff, cold wind.

The teams recently played out a 2-2 draw in the league but on this occasion YMCA ran out comfortable winners.

The visitors started well and created a few early chances but then YMCA began to take full advantage of the elements behind them.

Ellie McNally gave them a 10th-minute lead, which was quickly doubled with an Annabelle Jackson strike.

And it became 3-0 when McNally’s corner went into the net via a Burnley defender.

Just before the interval Isabelle Kells fired home to give YMCA a 4-0 lead, and despite facing the wind and rain in the second half YMCA remained in control.

Two further goals by McNally put them 6-0 in front before the visitors notched a deserved reply, with McNally grabbing her fourth goal in the closing stages to complete a fine victory.

Considering the very unpleasant conditions this was an impressive team display by YMCA, with Georgia Norman outstanding.
