Fleetwood's home match against Ipswich Town on Saturday is also in doubt after the Tractor Boys reported 11 positive tests on Christmas Eve and called off their next two games.

Indeed, Fleetwood's next four scheduled fixtures (Ipswich, Sunderland, Hull and Portsmouth) are all against clubs who pulled out of their midweek games due to Covid cases.

However, Joey Barton's number two at Highbury insists Town will adapt to the fluid situation and be ready for their next game.

Speaking after the Boxing Day draw at Crewe Alexandra, Hill said: "We have a good coaching team and physios, and we will adapt.

"The lads will be in recovery and then will prepare for the next game. But we just don't know what's going to happen from week to week.

"We have seen so many games postponed recently that a point like we got a Crewe could turn out to be a very good point.

"Obviously we'd have liked to turn that into three points but we unfortunately we ended the game talking about the performance of the referee rather than the team, which is disappointing."

Doncaster postponed their Boxing Day fixture against Accrington Stanley after two players tested positive, and more testing on Monday confirmed a further three cases.

With all their players now in isolation, Doncaster have also postponed their games against Peterborough United on Saturday and Oxford United next Tuesday.

The postponement of their match at Fleetwood means that seven of the 12 League One fixtures scheduled for Tuesday have been called off for Covid-related reasons.
