It is no secret Town have been hunting for a left-sided centre half to replace last term’s loan star Ben Davies and head coach Uwe Rosler is pleased Town have finally filled that position.

Davies returned to parent club Preston North End in the summer but now Town have reportedly beaten off Championship suitors to secure Premier League youngster Cargill’s signature.

The 22-year-old left-footer arrives at Highbury just five months after making his Premier League debut for the Cherries against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Cargill has also represented England at under 20 level, scoring on his debut against Canada in November 2014.

And Rosler believes Cargill will add balance to the back line as he prepares to compete with Nathan Pond, Ashley Eastham, Cian Bolger and Harvey Rodgers for a spot in Town’s back three.

Rosler said: “We are delighted to welcome Baily to Fleetwood Town. He is a player that we have had on our radar for some time and we have followed his progress very closely.

“He is a left-sided centre half and will provide great balance to our team in a position that we have been looking to fill.

“Baily had a lot of offers on the table, so we are happy to have fought off competition from a number of clubs to sign him. I would like to thank Eddie Howe at AFC Bournemouth for allowing Baily to join us, where we are sure he will continue his development.”
