Fleetwood Town target Ryan Cresswell is expected to hold talks over his future today writes Rob Stocks
The Gazette understands the Southend United defender will meet with boss Phil Brown with Fleetwood yet to hear back about a ‘significant offer’ made for the player.
25-year-old Cresswell has a year left on his Roots Hall contract but could be tempted by a big money move north.
Town were reporter to have tabled a £50,000 bid last week, which was rejected by the Essex club who until recently were threatened with a winding up order over unpaid tax.
That threat has now been lifted and Southend will be keen to keep hold of the centre half, who featured in last season’s League Two PFA team of the year.
It has been suggested The Shrimpers could want as much as £250,000 for Cresswell with Brown insisting last week it would take a ‘significantly improved’ offer to convince Southend to sell.
