Fleetwood set to host PNE in pre-season

Fleetwood Town have revealed they will host Championship side Preston North End in a pre-season fixture.

The game will take place at Highbury on Friday July 28, just over a week before the new 2017/18 League One campaign kicks off on the weekend of Saturday August 5.

Four of Town’s first team coaching staff have links with Deepdale with Uwe Rosler’s assistant head coach Rob Kelly having two spells as caretaker manager at Deepdale both prior to and after his role as Alan Irvine’s assistant.

Town’s first team coach Barry Nicholson, goalkeeping coach David Lucas and fitness coach Youl Mawene all enjoyed spells at PNE during their playing careers.

It is anticipated to be Town’s last pre-season friendly with the full schedule still set to be announced.

The full fixture list for the new League One season will be revealed on June 21.
