Fleetwood midfielder Sarcevic signs for Shrewsbury
Fleetwood's out of contract midfielder Antoni Sarcevic has joined Town's League One rivals Shrewsbury.
Sarcevic, 24, has signed a two year deal with Shrewsbury after announcing he was leaving the Fylde coast earlier this week.
The midfielder missed the final game of the campaign due to a thigh injury as Town retained their League One status with a 2-0 win over Crewe.
And he says he was swayed to move to Greenhous Meadow by what former Fleetwood boss and current Shrewsbury manager Mickey Mellon said to him.
Sarcevic told the Shrewsbury Town media team “I’m made up that it’s finally done.
“As soon as I knew the interest, I just wanted to get it done and dusted.
“A massive factor for myself is to enjoy my football again.
“What Micky (Mellon) has said to me and what he wants from me was a massive thing for me to get this move done.
“It was a tough season last season and I just wanted to have a good holiday with my partner and then sit down with my agent, and there were quite a few clubs interested.
“As soon as Shrewsbury was one of them, I wanted to get it done.”
The midfielder is looking to add goals for Shrewsbury next season.
“One (target) will hopefully be goals next year,” he said.
“I missed out on a few due last season to other factors like where I was playing etc, but like I said in Micky’s conversation, I want to chip in with some goals next year.”
