Fleetwood forward Ball happy to sacrifice goals for wins

Ball has 12 goals this season and the 27-year-old is one of three surviving players from Town’s League Two play-off final winning side from 2014 with Conor McLaughlin and Nathan Pond.

The target is to topple their record League One points tally of 63, set under Alexander in 2014-15, which could be done with three points tomorrow at Glanford Park.

Ball said: “It is nice sometimes to play your old manager because they have got obviously some love with the club.

“It will be a big game and an interesting one. We are just concentrating what is going on in our team.

It is the first time since the League Two promotion season that Ball has hit double figures.

Having netted a dozen so far this season, Ball believes that is down to head coach Uwe Rosler’s attacking mentality.

He said: “I think personally the manger has been big thing for me he is an attacking minded man, he wants to attack he wants to play good football.

“He has given me the minutes I have needed and hopefully I have paid him back.

“I think I will be happy if we are winning games and I’m contributing scoring-wise.

“All I want to do is win games, and if I can contribute goals-wise or assists, that is what I’ve got to do.”
