Fleetwood boss Sheridan: I'm not bitter about Barton decision

Sheridan says he was told on Wednesday by chairman Andy Pilley that ex-Manchester City and Burnley player Barton, 35, would be taking the reins when his suspension from football ends in June.And ex-Oldham boss Sharidan revealed he always had a feeling that a replacement was in the pipeline, no matter how well he did in his short-term role.Sheridan thanked chairman Andy Pilley for the opportunity to take the job and says his focus is now on improving his record at Town, where he has lost only two of 11 games.Sheridan said: “On Wednesday I had a chat with the chairman. It is not a problem to me.“People might think that I am bitter but I am not. It is the way football is. It moves on.“Some people see the game differently than others and that is just the way the game goes.“I’m just going to focus on the job in hand, winning the next three.“When I came in and took the job, I always had that inkling that it might be someone else who comes in and takes the job, no matter what I did. That is the way I worked.“I was not thinking about whether I was going to get the job or not – I was just concentrating on keeping the team up, I honestly was.“It has not shocked me but I have enjoyed my time here. I like it here and I like the people.“We all mixed together, got on and the best thing out of it is that we have stayed up.“I appreciate the chairman for giving me the job in the first place.“I don’t look at him as though he is letting me go or anything. I appreciate it has not done my stock any harm.“I’ve come in and I have done the job I had to do. I thank him for that in a way. There is no bitterness in any way, shape or form.“It is a good little club.I have had an opportunity. They want to go in the right direction, do things the right way. I’m sure they will and will keep looking after the club.”Sheridan wants to end his chapter in Town history on a high with wins over Wigan, Peterborough and Walsall.He added:” I’m focused on just doing the job I came in for. I want to finish my games really strong.“We did brilliantly to achieve safety with four games to go. Big plaudits to the players but we have to finish strong.”
