Fleetwood boss Pressley says League One leaders Burton Albion are punching well above their weight

Fleetwood Town manager Steven Pressley may get along with Burton boss Nigel Clough but he believes table-topping Albion are punching well above their weight.

The Brewers are in the hunt for back-to-back promotions after being crowned League Two champions last term.

Burton only entered the Football League in 2009, after 59 years in non-league, and Clough returned for a second stint as manager last December, replacing QPR-bound Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

And Pressley says organisation and hard work are key to Albion’s success.

“I think Burton are the one side in this division that are seriously punching above their weight,” said the Fleetwood boss.

“Jimmy Floyd did a terrific job and then Nigel has taken over a club punching above its weight, which is a difficult job to take on and he has managed to maintain that continuity and the lead at the top of the table. He has done a great job.

“Their players deserve amazing credit for the way they have gone about it this season.

“They are a really hard-working side. They are very organised I think that is the key to their success.

“Player for player I think there are better teams in the division, but in terms of their work ethic and their desire to win I think very few teams in the league compare to them.”
