Ten-man Fleetwood Town kept their promotion hopes alive with a stunning win over Wycombe Wanderers at Highbury.
Alan Goodall couldn’t have chosen a worse time to earn Town’s first red card in 12 months, swinging a boot at Nick Arnold after a coming together on the edge of the Chairboys box.
Town still dominated the opening 45 minutes, Matty Blair coming closest to finding the net, his blast well over after a fine run to split the Wycombe lines.
Fleetwood continued to make a mockery of Wycombe’s man advantage after the break and grabbed the lead just before the hour.
Some neat football in the middle of the park unlocked the visitors, Josh Morris pouncing 20 yards out, his second in as many games.
Wycombe were forced on the attack and had a handy outlet in Junior Morias, the frontman testing Chris Maxwell from 20 yards as Fleetwood were forced back.
The frontman flashed one past Maxwell’s post in the dying minutes as the home side’s energy levels dropped in the Highbury heat.
But Town clung on to stay in touch with the leading pack.
