First professional contract for Fleetwood Town defender Sam Bird
Full-back Sam Bird has signed his first professional contract with Fleetwood Town.
The 18-year-old defender has agreed a one-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months, after a successful season with the club's Under-18s.
Bird has been an ever-present this season and scored against Bristol City in the FA Youth Cup.
He is the third 18-year-old to agree professional terms at Highbury over the past week following the arrivals of forward Max McMillan and defender Connor Teale from Premier League club Leeds United.
