Ex-United coach in frame for Town job
Meulensteen, one-time right-hand man to Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, is a leading contender for the role vacated by Steven Pressley on the eve of the new season.

He was coach when United won the Champions League in the 2007-8 season,
Meulensteen has worked abroad and also had a spell in charge at Fulham when they were in the Premier League, eventually being replaced by German Felix Magath.
He has been keen to get into management again and would be highly recommended by Ferguson, who opened Town’s state-of-the-art Poolfoot Farm training complex at Thornton earlier in the year.
Fleetwood say they intend to go in a new direction, which would tend to rule out people like Iain Dowie and Nigel Adkins.
