Burton Albion ready for revenge on Fleetwood Town

Steven Pressley’s first win as Fleetwood boss was an emphatic 4-0 win over Albion at Highbury back in October.

It was only Pressley’s second game in charge after taking over the reins from Graham Alexander.

A double from Bobby Grant was sandwiched between goals from Jamie Proctor and Ash Hunter sealed victory for Town over the current League One leaders.

And despite only taking the helm at the Pirelli Stadium in December ex-Burton player Clough says that Albion are keen to bounce back from Tuesday night’s shock 2-0 defeat at Bradford City and avenge the 2014 League Two play-off final defeat at Wembley.

He said: “We’re not getting down about (the defeat at Bradford) we are still top of the league and we’ll do all that we can to turn it around tomorrow. Not only have we lost to them at Wembley, we lost to them 4-0 earlier in the season, so for us there may be a score to settle.”

But Pressley says Clough is just playing mind games.

He said: “I’m sure that Nigel is playing a little bit of mind games.

“I get on very well with Nigel, he is a manager I respect greatly but at the source of all that will be a motivation to his players.”

Antoni Sarcevic bagged the all important winner in the Wembley final but he is a doubt for tomorrow’s game due to a groin strain.

Fleetwood are battling at the wrong end of the table but despite losing in mid-week Clough’s men still maintained their grip on top spot.

Burton captain John Mousinho says he was glad they did not lose any ground as they are still four points clear of second-placed title rivals Wigan.

And the former Preston player says the 4-0 reverse fixture will have no sway on tomorrow’s result at the Pirelli Stadium.

He said: “Of course we wanted the result against Bradford but it’s over with now and we have to make sure that our incentive is bigger than all of our opponents that we come up against now.

“We certainly want to stop giving ourselves too much to do and we’ve got to make sure that it doesn’t catch up with us.

“The positive is that we’ve not lost any ground on the chasing pack and we don’t want to make a feeling as if it’s all doom and gloom. If we dwell on Tuesday’s game too much then it could always effect us tomorrow, so we’ve got to make sure that we don’t let that happen.

“We’re going to make sure that we’re a different side tomorrow and it’s going to be one of those where we don’t let the last result against Fleetwood have any effect on the way we play. As captain I firstly have to pick myself up after Tuesday’s result but it’s not as if we’re low and you have to remember that if you had given us this position at the start of the season, then we would have snapped your hand off!”
