Billy Kee was the villain again as Fleetwood Town’s FA Cup adventure ended at Burton Albion,

The Brewers stiker scored the 93rd minute goal at Highbury to set up the replay and his 24th minute blast saw the Brewers through to the third round.

Fleetwood responded to a poor first half display, creating chances after the break, Antoni Sarcevic with a good penalty shout, the midfielder ending up booked for his tumble.

David Ball returned to action for the first time since Town’s trip to Northampton but couldn’t make that vital difference, the striker finding himself in the way of Ryan Crowther’s late blast as Fleetwood couldn’t convert pressure into clear cut chances.

Burton will face Bournemouth in the third round.

Manager Graham Alexander was left fuming at his side’s first half display.

“The first 45 minutes was non-existent for us,” he said.

“We didn’t compete, we didn’t ask questions of their back four, we brought problems on ourselves and we gave Burton a goal.

“That’s how I see it.

“Second half we upped the tempo and competed.

“That’s all we ask, day in day out.

“Players and teams are going to play indiferently, pass the ball better sometimes.

“But you can never come off that competitive edge and work rate and we’ve done that.”

“We’ve let ourselves down.”
