Matt has made the short leap across the Fylde coast to sign a two-year deal at Bloomfield Road.

The 26-year-old is new Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer’s first signing of the summer and he will join the club when his current contract at League One club Fleetwood expires this month.

Matt scored seven goals in 14 appearances en route to the League Two play-off final whilst on loan at Plymouth Argyle from Town at the end of last term.

The Devon club were favourites to snap up Matt’s signature but the forward has opted to join Blackpool who were recently relegated from League One because of the ‘excitement’ in manager Bowyer’s voice and his desire to be part of a promotion chasing team.

Matt told the club website: “I spoke to the manager on the phone a couple of times and the excitement in his voice of what he wants to do this season is something that attracted me.

“I want to be part of a team that is challenging at the top of the league to try and get promoted. We’ve got the opportunity next season to try and bounce straight back and we’ve got some good players here already. If I can complement those players, hopefully we’ll be back where we want to be.”

Matt joined Fleetwood from Kidderminster Harriers back in January 2013 he scored 10 goals in Town’s 2013-14 League Two promotion season but was ruled out of the following campaign with a serious injury.

He scored 11 goals in total last season and Bowyer says goal hungry Matt is the type of striker he was hunting for.

The former Blackburn Rovers boss told Blackpool’s club website: “Jamille fits the profile for the type of striker I wanted to bring to the club - he’s strong, powerful, determined and, most importantly, knows where the goal is.

“He finished the season in fine form for Plymouth and we’ll be looking for him to hit the ground running when the players return for pre-season.”
