Fleetwood Town moved a step closer to Wembley as they drew 1-1 at Barnsley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Final First Leg
It might have been a two-legged tie but both sides went about things like a full-blooded winner takes all clash - Fleetwood making just one change with Joe Davis returning on loan.
The Tykes went close when Sam Winnall's 15 yard blast was blocked on the line by Antoni Sarcevic.
The Fleetwood midfielder was in the thick of the action, creating Town's best chance of the first half when he was fed by a neat Ash Hunter pass, blazing wide with only keeper Adam Davies to beat.
The second half did bring goals - Barnsley believing they'd opened the scoring when Chris Maxwell almost pushed a corner over his own line.
A goalkeeping mistake at the other end gave Fleetwood the lead, Hunter's cross turned over the line by Davies - the referee's assistant awarding the goal despite a scrambled clearance.
A goal advantage would have been the dream for Town but it wasn't to be, on loan Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher levelling for the Tykes, heading Aidan White's diagonal ball onto the underside of the bar with Maxwell beaten.
Fleetwood might have snatched it, Amari'i Bell and Bobby Grant with chances.
With no away goal rule Fleetwood must still win outright at Highbury but Steven Pressley's men have home advantage with Wembley in their sights
