Town are this season’s surprise promotion package having just escaped relegation with a final day win over Crewe last term.

With nine games left of this season to go Fleetwood are fighting at the right end of the table and bounced back from a 4-2 defeat to third-placed Bolton with a 1-0 win at Walsall to maintain their grip on second spot in the table.

The 12-goal striker says Town are keen to keep proving how good a team they are as they prepare to host AFC Wimbledon tomorrow.

Ball (pictured) said: “It just shows what a good group of players we have got; I think we have got such a good squad, the manager and everyone, all the staff, have been pointing us in the right way.

“We are there on what we have done and it shows how good a side we are; we have just got to keep that confidence going and prove to everyone what a good team we are.

“We trust in each other, we trust – no matter the scoreline – we can adapt to each situation and find a way and I think that is testament to the squad, the lads who are not playing who are coming off the bench and making an impact. The lads are training every day at high standards; that is a quality of our group that everyone pulls in the right direction.”
