Accrington Stanley 2 Fleetwood Town 0

A sloppy second half display saw Fleetwood Town slip to Lancashire derby defeat.

Saturday’s hat-trick hero Antoni Sarcevic slammed Gareth Evans’ cross against the bar - the best chance of the opening 45 minutes.

Stanley enjoyed plenty of posession but found chances limited, Piero Mingoia one of the few men for force a save from Scott Davies.

On-loan Blackpool striker Nathan Tyson was unable to find the target having been sent clear and Sarcevic was denied for a second time, just before the break, his header from Steven Schumacher’s corner seeming goal-bound but deflected behind off a Stanley head.

After the break Town relied too much of target man Tyson, not making enough of their wide men.

Stanley gradually grew in confidence and Town were made to pay 13 minutes from time.

Charlie Taylor sent Peter Murphy tumbling after Michale Liddle’s shot had been cleared off the line.

Up stepped sub Danny Webber, his spot kick too good for Davies.

And there was worse to come, Kayode Odejayi putting the game beyond Town nine minutes from time, shooting on the turn to James Beattie’s in form side claim another vital win.

Defeat sends Town down a place to fifth with leaders Oxford United heading to Highbury on Saturday
