Four men today appeared in court following a £50,000 raid on a security van in Fleetwood.
The men, aged between 22 and 32, were arrested in Scorton after allegedly throwing an axe at a police car to keep officers away.
After a van delivering cash to the Shell garage on Hatfield Avenue, Fleetwood, was held up at around 7.50am on Wednesday, a chase began.
It is alleged the four men hijacked a woman’s car before fleeing north along the A6.
Blackpool Magistrates’ Court heard several cars were damaged in the pursuit.
Four men from Bolton were arrested and were each charged with two counts of robbery, relating to the £50,000 van raid and the theft of the woman’s Ford car in Brock.
Shaughan Boardman, 27, of Priory Place; Wesley Seddon, 24, of Goldrill Avenue; Steven Anderson, 32, of Montserrat Road; and Ashley Hibbert, 22, of Arnold Street, were also charged with dangerous driving and threatening a police officer with an axe.
District judge Jeff Brailsford, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates Court, said the cases must be heard at Preston Crown Court.
There were no applications for bail and the four were remanded in custody to appear at the higher court on November 18 for a case management hearing.
