Families can remember their loved ones at Christmas in Cleveleys when the festive lights are switched on.
Relatives can light up a life on Thursday, November 26, when the town’s tree near Cleveleys Square will usher in the season of goodwill.
Coun Andrea Kay is asking for people to come forward to put a heart decoration on the tree and record their names in a book of remembrance at Cleveleys Library.
And for the first time a Light up a Life Facebook page will allow people to honour their loved ones online as well.
Coun Kay said: “It should be a lovely sight and we have all sorts of thing planned for the day.
“Christmas is a time when the loss of a loved one can be most keenly felt and this tree can help honour their memory.

“We are really trying to get the whole community involved in the town.”
She said the event would begin with letters to Santa at Children’s Corner at the Plaza where there will be a special North Pole post box, a chat and your photo taken with Father Christmas himself from 3.30pm to 4pm.
There will also be songs at the sea front at 4.15pm with Manor Beach and Northfold School children plus the The Dream Team Singers and a service led by Rev Michael Payne. Then there will be a parade to the tree for the dedication to the memories of loved ones and the lighting of the tree at 5pm.
Anyone wanting a heart for the tree can call Coun Kay on 07909 001436 or visit the library.
