Fleetwood’s huge deep sea fishing fleet may be a thing of the past but the spirit of the industry is still alive and well in the town.
The latest Fleetwood Fishermen’s Reunion, the 13th to be staged, was attended by 180 ex-trawlermen and their close relatives.
Apart from catching up on old times, there was a buffet and music provided by veteran Fleetwood DJ, Dave Scrivener.
And this year’s raffle raised a mighty £1,030, thanks to support from Fleetwood’s fish merchants and other traders in the town.
The money is to be split three ways between the Fishermen’s Mission, the Goth Funnel Fund and Fleetwood Lifeboat. Leon O’Flaherty, one of the main organisers of the event, said: “We had a fantastic time and everyone enjoyed themselves.
“I’d like to thank all the businesses who donated prizes for the raffle and those who even gave us cash.”
