A members-only gym is planned for Hambleton.

Plans have been lodged with Wyre Council to turn the Kabo Equestrian and Country Supplies building, in Sower Carr Lane, into a facility for 100 people.

This is something currently not available in the Over Wyre area

“This is something currently not available in the Over Wyre area,” a firm acting for applicant Bob Gardener said in papers.

“The applicant intends to have approximately 100 members, and although this may sound high, the number of times each member visits the site on a weekly basis means there will be a net reduction in vehicle movements.”

No internal changes to the existing building are proposed, although a 135 sqm extension would be built alongside a lean-to, which would house equipment and allow space to be used for treadmills and rowing machines, documents revealed.

There are no changes planned to the number of car parking spots at the site, which is currently 20.

Neighbouring properties were sent letters informing them of Mr Gardener’s application earlier this week.

Planning officers will consider any responses before a final decision is made.
