The Les Miserables star was at Fleetwood Town for their home clash with Sheffield United.

And even though he’s performed on Broadway and in the West End, the opera ace admitted it was nerve-wracking standing and singing in front of 4,000 football fans and friends.

He said: “This is my home time.

“Singing for people I know, familiar faces, yes I’ll be nervous.

“This is my home town team, I want to see them do well.

“I don’t want to get the blame if something goes wrong.”

Fleetwood-born Alfie wore a Town shirt for his performance and said Highbury had changed since his days on the terraces. He said: “It’s a lot different from last time I was here.

“The last time I came to a match I was about 12 and none of this was here.

“There was a little gap in the fence I used to speak to.”

Alfie might be a global star but he still keeps tabs on Fleetwood’s form as the club battles in League One.

He said: “I’ve got all the apps, I get all the messages on the results, even if I’m in America.

“I make sure I follow the team.”

Alfiel looked like he’d brought Fleetwood good fortune when David Ball put the hosts ahead after 13 minutes. But Town were pegged back with just 27 seconds remaining, Ethan Ebanks-Landell grabbing a dramatic late equaliser for the Blades.

Alfie also managed to find the time for a quick bite to eat at Granadas fish bar in the town.
