Man held in custody and woman bailed after Morecambe man killed at caravan park

A 24-year-old man has been kept in police custody for a further 36 hours after a Morecambe man was killed during a row at a travellers' site.

Detectives investigating the death at a caravan park near Leighton Buzzard successfully applied to Luton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for a warrant of further detention.

The man is being held on suspicion of the murder of 43-year-old Patrick Maloney at the Toddbury Farm site on Tuesday August 2.

A 42-year-old woman also arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed with strict conditions until September 14, pending further enquiries.

A post-mortem examination of Mr Maloney is ongoing and the family continues to be supported by Family Liaison Officers.
