Man faces charge of attempting to strangle girlfriend

A man accused of attempting to strangle his girlfriend and causing her to fall backwards against a glass coffee table after slapping her has made his first appearance before a magistrates’ court in Blackpool.

Barry Taylor, 41, of Knowle Avenue, in Cleveleys, pleaded not guilty to assault when he appeared before the court.

The offence is alleged to have taken place at the girlfriend’s flat in Blackpool on June 6.

Taylor was bailed until July 17 for trial by District Judge Jeff Brailsford, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

He must not contact his girlfriend or enter Grantham Road, North Shore, in the resort as conditions of his bail, Taylor was ordered by the judge.
