Man and two children fall from jet-ski into river

An eight-year-old child had to be rescued from the River Wyre after falling from a jet-ski.

There were reports that three people were in the water between Fleetwood and Knott End shortly after 3.35pm today.

Knott End and Fleetwood coastguard rescue teams, along with Fleetwood RNLI, were called into action.

The eight-year-old child was picked up by Fleetwood ferry Wyre Rose and taken to the shore at Knott End.

The two other people - a man and a one-year-old child - swam to shore at Fleetwood and were picked up by the Fleetwood coastguard rescue team.

They were all checked over and did not need any medical attention.

Fleetwood RNLI went into the estuary to retrieve the jet-ski.
