July 28th '˜the best day to have a birthday'
Today is the best date of the year to have a birthday, according to new research.
The study took into account the weather, the fact it’s payday and more people are likely to turn up to any birthday celebrations.
So footballer Harry Kane and Michael Carrick plus singer Cher Lloyd will all have extra reason to celebrate their birthdays today.
The report, by Interflora, analyses and ‘scores’ the birth dates of more than 2,000 people, with factors such as the chance of sunshine, the proximity to payday, and the average number of presents received.
The summer months, perhaps unsurprisingly, emerged as the best time of year to have a birthday - with the happiest months to celebrate confirmed as June (60 per cent), July (59 per cent) and August (53 per cent).
And the best birthday date of all was revealed as July 28th - due, in-part, to the likelihood of fantastic weather, its closeness to payday, as well as the “feel-good” summer factor - helped this year by Wimbledon, and the pending Olympics.
But the people most disgruntled with their birth date are those born in December with 16 per cent confirming they were ‘unhappy’ followed by January (15 per cent) and November (11 per cent).
People born in August are more likely to receive high value gifts than any other month with 11 per cent receiving £50 or more, according to the research.
The study also suggested summer babies appear to have more success in life. Those born in June were more likely than any other month to have a doctorate, or a post-graduate degree.
People born in August are most likely to be top earners compared with any other month with 12 per cent earning more than £45,000.
But those born in December are least likely to become a top earner with just one in 25 (four per cent) confirming they are in the top wage bracket.
Bethany Day, brand manager for Interflora, said: “At Interflora, we’re dedicated to helping people make life’s most important occasions as memorable as possible.
“It’s important to remember all birthdays are special - no matter what day, week or month they occur on.”
