Hunt for couple who hold clues to theft

A hunt is under way to find a couple who are thought to hold clues about those responsible for stealing hundreds of pounds of alcohol from a shop.

Police have launched an investigation after various bottles of spirits – amounting to a total of £221 – were taken from the Co-op store at Victoria Road East, Thornton.

Officers said the couple pictured were caught on CCTV moments before the theft and were hopeful they would have seen who was responsible

The couple entered the shop around 3.15pm on Saturday.

PC Byron Morgan, who is investigating the incident, said: “Shoplifting is a serious offence that will not be tolerated in Thornton.

“This is a significant amount of alcohol and theft of this kind has a knock-on effect for honest and hardworking traders.

“I am confident this couple hold vital clues that will help us find out who is responsible for this theft.

“I would urge anyone who recognises these people or the couple themselves to contact police.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Lancashire Police on 101.
