A search for a missing teenage girl whose family feared she may self-harm was ended when she was spotted by the police helicopter in woodland close to her home.

The 16-year-old’s family called police on 4.45pm on Sunday saying she had gone missing from her home in Anchorsholme and were concerned for her welfare.

The police helicopter was scrambled and she was found in The Towers woodland in Cleveleys at 6.30pm.

She was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with minor injuries, police said.
