Great-uncle enjoyed varied soccer career

SANDRA Cardwell's great-uncle, Thomas Peet Pratt, a professional footballer, started his career at Fleetwood Rangers in 1894, before being signed up by Grimsby Town for the 95-96 season.

Sandra added: “It was there that a scout from Preston North End saw him. He was signed by PNE and played for them between 1896 and 1899, when he went to play for Tottenham Hotspur.

“He went back to PNE in 1900 until 1903, playing for Fleetwood when not needed. In 1903/4, he played for Wolwich Arsenal before coming back North to play in his final season for Blackpool and again Fleetwood.

“He died in 1935. His photo is taken from the Grimsby Town Team photo of 95/96.”
