Edith Funk proudly wore the chain office when her husband, Fleetwood councillor and alderman Eddie Funk, was mayor in 1970/71.

There will be a funeral service for Edith, who died on Friday March 11 at the age of 95, at St Peter’s Church on Lord Street tomorrow at 11am.

Edith, who lived on Rossall Grange Lane, was a popular figure in Fleetwood and was involved in the life of the local community.

She was a member of Fleetwood Soroptomists, participated in Fleetwood Carnival Day for many years and was a member of the Fleetwood Cricket Club and Fleetwood Ladies Choir.
