Fleetwood martial arts club the Mount Taekwondo will be hosting its first ever competition and fundraising event next month.

A non-profit, volunteer-run club, Mount Taekwondo was established in 1993 when Fleetwood man Chris Frost was approached by the Mount Methodist Church to run a club for local children.

The club, which trains at the town’s St Nicholas’ Church hall, has aspirations of moving to permanent facilities in the area and members hope fundraisers like this one will help them achieve that.

The tournament, on Saturday July 2 at Fleetwood’s Cardinal Allen High School, will host World Taekwondo Federation clubs from the Blackpool and Fylde area, from 9am to 5pm. The fundraising event, at Fleetwood Bowling Club from 7pm, will include a DJ, magician, face painting, raffle, bingo and food. Tickets for this cost £1 per person and £3 for families.
